Das C-Wort

Schon Mitte 2010 dokumentierte ich das Verschwinden des Wortes cinema, vor allem in der Bedeutung "Filmtheater", aus dem Wortschatz des (amerikanischen?) Englisch. Zur Untermauerung der Annahme, sich durch Verwendung von cinema heutzutage regelrecht gesellschaftsunfähig zu machen, habe ich nun neues Material gefunden, in Form einer Stand-up-Nummer des US-Comedians Brian Regan aus dem September 2015.

You ever have a friend use a word that's so awkward you consider dropping them as a friend? Like "cinema"? We had this couple over that kept using that word like it was a normal word for people to use. [übertrieben blasiert] "My wife and I like to attend the cinema. We went to the cinema Friday evening. We usually attend the cinema couple of times a month. Do you enjoy the cinema?" ... Can you get out of my house? 'cause we's all going to the movies.
